Warmth underfoot as winter approaches

Chevrons are the latest in rug fashions.
Colourful rugs can give an instant style update.

Through my bank of quality rug suppliers I can select wonderful rug choices to be delivered in a matter of days, however sometimes custom rugs are the best way forward.

Why custom?  Apart from the appeal of having a unique design in almost any colour the most important reason I use custom rugs is that I can tailor the sizing to fit the room or furniture arrangement.  Stairs, hallways (particularly when turning corners) and very large family rooms can be perfectly detailed with a custom rug.  I split custom rug types into two main categories:

Firstly there is natural flooring, which are your natural sisal, coir and seagrass products etc.  (pictured left) These rugs come in a wide variety of colours and patterns and can be edged with fabric or leather.

Natural flooring can also be provided as wall to wall carpets.  I am yet to see true natural sisal products in carpet stores in Canberra but do have full sampling in my studio.

Secondly there are custom wool rugs which often feature highlights in art silk.  (pictured right) There are hundreds of wool and art silk colours to choose from and pattern design is only limited to one's imagination.

Custom wool rugs can take up to 16 weeks to manufacture and deliver, so for warmth underfoot this winter now is the time to take action.

Either type of custom rug can be source in a variety of qualities and for domestic or commercial applications.

Journey Home’s rug advisory service includes a home visit to discuss your functional and aesthetic requirements, view examples of rug costs, work out the optimal size for your room and whether you need custom. At our studio we source or design up to two rugs which are presented for your approval prior to purchase.

Speciality rugs such as hooked, plaid, braided, quality outdoor rugs are some of the many options up our sleeve for your rug solution.

Touching Base

It's been a while, a busy 7 months in fact, during this time I have finished my stage one renovations, opened up the house for public viewing to raise money for Hartley Life Care, officially launching Journey Home Interior Design, no minor task by the way,  got myself a new website all whilst putting a lot of time and effort into client projects.  Did I mention I study too.   The result is that blogging had to give way for a while.

I'd love for you visit  Journey Home Interior Design's new website, especially my latest portfolio additions.    If you like what you see, please tell someone.
