Curtain Fashions the finished result

Back in September I was talking about trying this relaxed curtain header as a casual alternative to pinch pleats, I am really pleased with the result made by my accommodating work room.    I teamed this lovely floral fabric and balanced it with the masculine textured wall paper to work with the client's existing roman blind, the room is coming together beautifully and hopefully I will be able to photograph it for my website portfolio on  www.journey-home.com.au  in the new year.

An exercise in lean green styling

Whether styling to sell or stay,  in all projects I allow budget for new accessories and time to work them in because they really do provide the  finishing touch.   In this case I have lime green kitchen bench tops, and unfortunately they are not the cool version you might see in contemporary home design but the 1970s version, so I am using lime green touches in the styling of our meals area to tie it all in.

Custom coloured spray paint is applied to trusted cane dining chairs for a fresh new look.

 

If I was really committing to the scheme I would also go for rugs

 and a wallpaper....

Curtain fashions

I've been noticing this curtain heading combined with simple but elegant rods for some time in the top design mags and have recently offered this look to one or two clients for a relaxed alternative to the triple pinch pleat.

Good news for Canberra, pelmets are great insulators and are also making a fashion comeback.

Here is a little Roman blind in a striped linen, that I recently installed into a client's butler pantry.

 My client was tired of pinch pleats so for a just a little glamour and to get the proportions just so, I chose a double pencil pleat for this metallic sheer which was combined with a silver gilded rod and finials.

 

Looking forward to showing  more window treatments I've designed and supplied as projects are photographed later this year.

Joan Rivers' Bedroom

Just spotted this in my files.  many years ago before pinning and blogging I scanned these images of Joan River's bedroom that from memory was featured in Architectural Digest.  So pink, so sophisticated and definitely lux,  what a delight.  What a pity she is gone.

Shoe store design

 

I can now ad a rendered perspective view of the hypothetical Camper shoe store design I've created as part of my retail design studies.

Different clients, different purposes = different styles

I've recently finished these two concept boards for completely different styles and purposes.  A living room and a shoe store. 

 

Classic navy blue and white in an eclectic combination of modern and traditional furniture results in a forceful design for a living room that's high on glamour. Note the custom designed sideboard.

Finishes for a hypothetical commercial design in Belconnen shopping centre.  Key features include  recycled timbers, Spanish tiles and industrial lighting.  Its barn meets loft!
